What should I do if I’m unhappy with my Realtor?

What to do if you’re unhappy with your Realtor depends on why you are unhappy. If it’s because you just aren’t getting along or the results of his or her work aren’t meeting your expectations, sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk. As real estate professionals we all want to satisfy our client’s wants and needs. The only way I have lasted 46 years in the business is by getting constant referrals from happy clients. If, after your talk, they offer satisfactory solutions to the issues that caused your unhappiness, give him or her at least thirty days to resolve them.

If you’re still not satisfied or if there are ethical or contractual issues that are the root of your unhappiness, talk with their broker and come up with a solution that is satisfactory to you. If that doesn’t work, or if your Realtor is the broker of the office, you can always take your complaint to your local Board of Realtors.

The bottom line is, no smart agent wants an unhappy client. The business is difficult enough without having to deal with dissatisfied or unappreciative clients in addition to all of the work involved.
